There’s a web service out there that some of you may have heard of before, but some others might not. I guess that’s the reason for me posting this. I’m using Twitter again, and my vacation from using this service has come to an end.

Twitter is a service that allows someone to sign up for a free account and let others know what they’re doing, or tell others about things. They are given 140 characters to say what they want to say and it updates all of their friends/followers. This is a very basic idea, but what makes this service the best one out there is that the simple to use API has been used to it’s fullest abilities. You can update your Twitter status via their website, an application, or text message. You can get updates from your friends using those methods also.

Let me just say how I have things set up, and you’ll know why it’s so great. When I send an update to my account it updates my twitter status, facebook status, AIM status, MSN status, XFire status, Yahoo status, GTalk status, and queedium contact page status. All instantly. You could have it do even more if you wanted to. Sign up, give it a try. Add me as a friend.

I have been subscribed to TEDTalks for over a year now and I’m not sure how many of you out there have seen these videos. Let me start out by introducing what exactly TED is. Essentially it is a gathering of the worlds greatest minds to share what they’re best at with everyone. Watching James Watson talk about discovering DNA, watching Ze Frank talk about keeping creative energy going, watching Bill Clinton talk about funding Rwanda’s needs, and the list goes on and on.
These are the people that are revolutionizing the industries that they’re involved in, and in turn change the world. If anything, these videos are pure inspirational if not completely informational.

One more thing lets bring Wing Night back to its glorious days by having people show up every tuesday at 7:00, and we are going to start asking for volunteers to show up like 30 min early so that way were not sitting down at 7:45.

In the age of brilliant new web applications it’s fitting that a money management app has sprung up. It is a very sleek and enjoyable interface. When one first signs up they are taken to a page where they are given the option to add their accounts, and I found that Mint’s support even included my small town’s bank and credit card. It was a good thing to see right away.



The overview page is everything you want at a glance, and gives you little tips that try to help with your accounts. One might see a new way to save some money with a helpful hint that Mint gives.



Of course Mint offers transaction history. Very basic feature that is implemented in a very polished way.



The web experience given by Mint makes it seem like it should be running as a full blown application on your computer. It’s very visual and very well presented. It’s not missing any features that I personally need, and the fact that it is accessible from anywhere with an internet connection is absolutely astounding. I have to recommend this to anyone who uses programs like this even if they’re set on using MS Money or Quicken. It’s definitely worth a try.

I searched all over the internet and could not find any freeware avi to dvd software, of if I did it was complete shit. Then I rembered the site best for answering almost any question lifehacker.com. I went there typed in avi to dvd and the first post was about DVD Flick. I downloaded it and it worked fine. It takes about an hour and a half to completley encode and burn to dvd and the software is retard proof. To download this freeware follow this link to DVD Flick.

The Bravery’s album is one that I can rate as a full 5 stars for every song on the album. I have only done that once before (The Postal Service).

The Hot Hot Heat album is one that is full of great songs but there’s one or two songs that don’t quite make this a perfect album for me. There is still enough of a reason to get the album as the good ones are really good.

You have to check them both out if you’re into some indie.

Steam has been a growing community of people with more and more people using it, and they actually like using it.  They have had their application launcher and game download service for quite some time now, but now they have released Steam Community. This is their new platform that you can compare to XFire where you have an application that keeps track of all of your games and your friends. Not only do you launch Steam Powered games from the game list, but you can also add 3rd party games. Steam keeps track of those records also.

One might wonder what exactly is different between XFire and Steam Community. Basically XFire has the application launcher, buddy list, instant messaging, and stats tracking. Steam takes all of those things that made XFire so popular and added onto it. They have their store where you can instantly buy and download a game that you might not find in stores, or don’t want to drive out to a store. It has full support for separate mod installations, and a few other features that you might find in your experience using it.

It’s totally worth the try, and you might find yourself making the switch over.
